Kyabje Jonang Gyaltsab Rinpoche on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s four core commitments.
‘From a Buddhist point of view, this represents the highest aspiration of bodhichitta, culmination of infinite compassion to relieve all sentient beings from suffering,’ Kyabje Jonang Gyaltsab Rinpoche said as he gave a short discourse on the four principal commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Kyabje Jonang Gyaltsab Rinpoche is the head of Jonang school of Tibetan Buddhism in exile.
In addition to being central to Buddhist aspirations, Rinpoche said, His Holiness’ core commitments are also a blueprint for a modern, ethical, sustainable world.
‘On the whole as His Holiness always says ‘it is only through compassion and inner peace that one spread peace in the world’. Inner peace leads to a peaceful individual and then a peaceful family, a peaceful community, and ultimately we can achieve a peaceful world.’

Today&#;s full moon is the birthday of HE 12th Goshri Gyaltsab Rinpoche and I am sharing this photo, with a verse from the Praises to 12th Gyaltsab Rinpoche composed by the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje in (which I translated and published in ). I have received several empowerments from the 12th Gyaltsab Rinpoche, at his Ralang Monastery seat in Sikkim, India, including the Knowing One Liberates All (chig she kun drol) which I wrote about here. The 12th Gyaltsab Rinpoche has also recently given two full transmissions and teachings on the Collected Works of Je Gampopa, for which I wrote an overview and translated outline of the Collected Works here. I recently composed a biography on the 2nd Goshri Gyaltsab Rinpoche, an important teacher to the 8th Karmapa, Mikyo Dorje, and who played a crucial role in the dispute over the 8th Karmapa&#;s recognition, which can be read on the Treasury of Lives website, here.
