Salisbury boxers will showcase talents at Main Street Gym's fight night. When to see them.

Main Street Gym, a staple of the boxing community on Maryland's Eastern Shore, is set to host another one of its trademark fight nights next week, as local amateur boxers prepare to get in the ring and represent the gym.

Founded by Hal Chernoff, Main Street Gym has been a home to young boxers in Salisbury for decades, with local amateur boxers, including names like Salisbury native Fernando Guerrero, having come through the gym and learned the "sweet science." Looking to help train young people in the area and teach them discipline, the goal for Main Street Gym isn't just about making great fighters, but also providing structure, discipline, and giving them tools for life as well.

"I want them to not so much focus on the win, but focus on what they learn from it.," Tyrone Hargrove, one of Main Street's longtime coaches, said Monday. Undefeated middleweight prospect Fernando Guerrerowill participate in his first main event bout in his hometown as he will face Brian "The Assassin" Norman of Decatur, GA in a scheduled eight-round contest. Guerrero (, 11 KO's) is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Gabriel Rosado on the last card in Salisbury on February 6. Norman (, five KO's) scored a first-round knockout over Curtis Hinton in his last outing on March 6 in Columbus, MS.

Guerrero will be the third Beltway Boxer Norman has faced in his last four bouts. Norman was stopped in the ninth round by Henry Buchanan on June 25 in Beverly Hills, CA and lost an eight-round majority decision to Demetrius Davis on May 3, in District Heights, MD. Norman has lost to Buchanan twice in his career and has also lost to Beltway Boxer Reginald Taylor and defeated Carlos Jones.
