Tonight on Finding Escobars Millions, we head to the hot place — the ground central location where Colombian and American forces worked together to fight Pablo Escobar and his Medellin cocaine cartel.
The two countries law enforcement personnel joined forces to combat the growing political power Escobar wielded in the region.
Interspersed in a series of flashback photos, former CIA operatives Doug Laux and Ben Smith interview former DEA special agent Joe Toft, who was in charge of the Bogota office.
In , Toft was integral in the eventual killing of Escobar, who was gunned down in a rooftop shootout with police.
Laux explains how before Escobars death, Toft would regularly attend funerals of people the drug kingpin had had killed, and so was very happy when he was eventually taken down.

Toft, sharing how Escobar surveilled their every move, explains: This was the hot place, it was like a fortressit was difficult. He adds: We were always afraid th
VIVIAN BLAKES WAR
In the late s, a young Jamaican man named Vivian Blake, a scholarship kid from the Tivoli Gardens ghetto of Kingston, arrived in New York as part of a traveling cricket exhibition, stuck around, and began selling marijuana. One of the last great political proxy fights of the Cold War was then unfolding in Jamaica: Both the left-wing party, friendly to Castro, and its right-wing opponents built violent electioneering posses to persuade friendly voters and attack unfriendly ones— Jamaicans died. Blake was affiliated with the right-wing Shower Posse. He helped funnel pot and, later, cocaine to the United States and sent guns back home to help the posses intimidate voters. After the election, the new government tried to drive the posses off the island, and many arrived in New York and Miami, fully formed, violent organizations, deprived of their political purpose and looking for something to do.
In , it was still possible to describe crack as confined to three cities—New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. But police elsewhere soon noticed two new phenomena: crack, and the Jamaican gangs who would soon control up to 40 percent of the East Coast market.

The end of season three sets the show on track to follow the drug war to the next "real" threat of Mexico. But Newman has not confirmed if hes ready to head straight there just yet. Feistls history in Colombia provides some hints as to what the show would tackle if it stayed in Colombia, namely by turning its eye to the No. 3 power that is now No. 1: the North Valley cartel.

Times Narcos Lied To You About What Really Happened
ByMorris M.
Netflix's Narcos has probably been responsible for teaching more Americans about Colombian history than decades of Discovery documentaries combined (and the same for Mexico with its spinoff Narcos: Mexico). A deep dive into the murky world of the war on drugs, Pablo Escobar's Medellin cartel, and the power plays at the top of Colombian politics in the '80s and '90s, Narcos is famed for its commitment to historical accuracy. Although showrunner Eric Newman has always been careful to stress that the narrative is condensed and refined to work as fiction, there's no doubt Netflix wants you to take Narcos seriously as television.

And serious is exactly what Narcos is until you go digging into actual Colombian history and find out just how much Narcos distorted, or exaggerated, or just plain made up. While some of these tweaks are minor, others are like watching a "historically accurate" Lincoln biopic open with Honest Abe taking part in a shirtless rap battle. Narcos is definitely great TV. It ain't so great at accurate history. So, so many spoilers below
