Matali Crasset &#; French Product Designer
Matali Crasset&#;s journey to recognition has been swift, and she has unquestionably cemented her place among the world&#;s finest designers. Early years

Depuis sa formation aux Ateliers-ENSCI dans les années , elle défend un design à la croisée d’une pratique artistique, anthropologique et sociale.
Elle œuvre pour un design de la création, du vivant et du quotidien : comment le design peut contribuer au vivre ensemble et nous accompagner dans le monde contemporain ? C’est à partir de ce postulat à la fois simple et engagé qu’elle pense et travaille « en mouvement ».
Depuis 30 ans, elle invente son parcours singulier, nourri des centaines de projets qu’elle a menés aussi bien en architecture qu’en scénographie, en conception d’objets, de mobilier, d’espaces publics et d’aménagement.
Ses œuvres sont exposées dans les institutions culturelles en France et à l’étranger et comptent parmi les grandes collections de design des musées., du Moma de New York au centre Pompidou…

Chapitre 1 : L’atelier
~ Derrière une imposante porte en bois se découvre une allée baignée par la lumière du début d’après-midi, adoucie par une verdure foisonnante. Au cœur de cette bambouseraie urbaine, matali crasset nous accueille dans son atelier bellevillois. Seule une bibliothèque remplie d’ouvrages bigarrés qui s’étend jusqu’au plafond sépare son lieu de travail de son salon, où se rencontrent prototypes, piles de livres et mobilier coloré. Dans cet espace qu’elle occupe depuis avec son conjoint Francis Fichot et leurs deux enfants, et qu’elle partage avec Florian, son collaborateur, elle trouve son équilibre.

matali crasset Il est commun de s’installer à proximité de la gare qui nous relie à notre région d’origine, peut-être parce que cela facilite le retour chez soi. Avec Francis, nous avons ainsi toujours vécu dans l’Est de Paris. Peut-être qu’inconsciemment, nous avons recréé ici les conditions de vie de Normée, mon village d’enfance.
