¿Dónde te criaste, y como fue tu principio musical?
Me crié en un barrio de Río Piedras que se llama El Embalse San José y mi principio musical fue desde que existo. Desde que tengo memoria, mi papá tocaba la flauta y en la casa había música puesta todo el día, así que tengo la música muy cercana. Cuando tenía doce años, entro a la Escuela Libre de Música donde empiezo mi formación musical más concreta.
¿Cuándo te diste cuenta de que tenías que ofrecer una Salsa nueva con ritmos contemporáneos para la actual generación?
Esa es la música que me apasiona: la Salsa. Nuestra música de cuna desde que somos niños como puertorriqueños, como caribeños, es la música que entra a nuestros oídos desde que nacemos. Antes eso, y ante mis ganas como joven de hacer cosas distintas y nuevas, decido crear mi grupo La Tribu con unas cualidades y unas características más de acuerdo con mi generación y a la realidad de ahora. Pirulo La Tribu was formed in by founder Francisco ‘Pirulo’ Rosado Rosario, as an integration of classic style and modern times, combining of Salsa, Latin Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Urban, Afro-Latin and World Fusion Music. The first of his projects to record was Calle Linda in the middle of Its single "Loco Pero Feliz”, hit the Billboard Latin Songs charts in and in won the SESAC Awards for #1 Tropical Airplay SESAC Latina. In Calle Linda Golden Edition was released and nominated for a Latin Billboard Award as Tropical Album Artist/Group of the Year. Also in , Pirulo y La Tribu became a Latin American Music Awards Winner, as New Favorite Tropical Artist and in , again nominated for a Latin Billboard Award asTropical Artist/Group of the Year. A follow-up, Calle Linda 2, was released in the early Summer of It entered Top Latin Albums within a week, and within three, reached the Top Its single, "De Mi Que Hablen," also entered the Tropical Songs charts. Featured Artists participating in Calle Linda 2 are Olga Tañón in “Miro Pal Cielo”, and Ozuna with “Yo Soy Yo”. Pirulo y La Tribu are a 21st century salsa and timba group who wed classic style to modern production. Their music combines Nuyorican salsa, Afro-Cuban son, and Puerto Rican bomba. Francisco "Pirulo" Rosada Rosario was born in in the San Jose Reservoir barrio in San Juan. His mother was Puerto Rican and his father, Frankie Rosado, originally hailed from Brooklyn and played flute during the great salsa explosion in the '70s in New York. From a young age, the younger Rosario was exposed to the music of Dave Valentin, Ismael Rivera, Willie Colón, Héctor Lavoe, Irakere, Los Van Van, and Cortijo. At the age of ten, Rosario entered San Juan's Free School of Music, studying oboe and bass, but his heart belonged to percussion, which he majored in. During high school he started his first band, Revolucion Latina. Upon graduation in at the age of 17, he went straight to work, woodshedding as a percussionist with artists including Giovanni Hidalgo, Anthony Carrillo, Pupi Santiago, Edgar Abraham, Alfredo y Rumberos, and many others.
